What is the Mission of The Homeschool Journey in Nova Scotia Conference?

Each family’s homeschooling journey is unique. There are ups and downs, and sometimes we are left feeling alone. God calls us to encourage each other in the faith (1 Thess 5:11), and we know our faith in Jesus is what we can draw upon as we educate our children. We can be a benefit to one other- in learning together and building each other up.

The Homeschool Journey in Nova Scotia is a conference for homeschoolers- whether you have been homeschooling for decades, or months, or maybe haven’t started yet.

This conference will refresh your excitement for the homeschool journey, equip you with practical tools, and transform your vision for education and discipleship in your home.

Meet our Speakers for 2024!

Durenda Wilson
Our VIRTUAL GUEST! With more than twenty-eight years of home education experience, Durenda Wilson is a trusted voice and resource at homeschooling conventions and on The Durenda Wilson Podcast. Durenda and her husband, Darryl, have eight kids (7 graduated so far) and ten grandchildren. As an author, speaker, and podcaster her greatest joy is reminding parents how doable and effective homeschooling is and that they are, in fact, qualified for the job! Her books include The Four Hour School Day, The Unhurried Homeschooler, and Unhurried Grace for a Mom’s Heart.
Kristen Habermehl
Meet our Keynote Speaker! Kristen is a homeschooling mom of five, and grandma of one, who has been married to her husband, Dwight, for 30 years. After twenty-three years of homeschooling, her last child graduates this year, but she still has great passion for moms “in the trenches”, and desires to share from her journey of seeing God’s faithfulness in all aspects of school at home. Kristen works as an accessibility assessor and instructor, speaking and training professionals how to assess built environments. She loves reading, knitting, and exploring our beautiful province, and as a follower of Jesus, Kristen embraces any opportunity to be part of encouraging others in their journey of faith.
Steve Demme
Our VIRTUAL GUEST! Steve and his wife Sandra have been married since 1979. They have been blessed with four sons, three lovely daughters-in-law, and six special grandchildren. Their fourth son has Down Syndrome and lives with them in Lititz, PA. With God’s help, Steve has been seeking first the Kingdom since graduating from Grove City College and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He is the creator of Math-U-See and the founder of Building Faith Families. His desire is to strengthen, teach, and encourage parents and families to follow the biblical model for the Christian home. To that end he has written several books, continues to send out a monthly newsletter, produces podcasts weekly, and speaks at home education conferences, men’s ministry events, and family retreats.

Just like last year, we are offering the
Babysitter’s Training Course from St. John’s Ambulance for youth aged 11-15! While you are enjoying the conference, your teen can receive their certification!

When you register to attend, you can also register your teen for this course.
